Samantha filed our taxes using an old address, even though ALL our paperwork had our new address on them. That wouldn't have been so bad except for some reason she elected to have our refund mailed to us. After the necessary 4 week waiting period we contacted her to file forms with the IRS to start a trace, our refund was never received. Not only did she not apologize for not checking the accuracy of our forms before she filed them but she also told me to do the form myself. We had paid Samantha in full and have been clients of hers for years. Also, we received notice from the California Franchise Tax Board that our state taxes were not correct when filed.

We have used this company for more than 10 yrs to do our yearly taxes. We were happy with their work. This year we needed advice on how much tax to withhold when cashing out annuities. I left a message in person at the office but no return call. I waited a week and called them. They refused to let me speak to Samantha to ask her that one question. I do not recommend this business if they simply will not return calls to their existing clients.

Samantha is "in charge" of my daughter-in-law's trust fund. Samantha gave my daughter-in-law a check for her rent and school supplies and now my daughter-in-law's bank account is overdrawn because the check Samantha signed and gave to her was returned because of insufficient funds. This was the first time my daughter-in-law ever had requested money. Her sister also had her check returned for insufficient funds, that Samantha had given her. Samantha won't tell my daughter-in-law how much money she has in the trust fund account. Seems like Samantha is very shady and dishonest. How can a CPA give someone money out of their own trust fund and have the check returned for insufficient funds? I would be very skeptical going to Samantha.

On 7/5/20 Samantha agreed to file an extension for us by 7/15/20 and then a tax return; she never did.

Following us dropping off the packet of requested documents the next day, and allowing her access to our Quickbooks and banking, she was 100% non-responsive via phone or email for over a month, until we made in-person contact with her.

We dropped by her Orland location on July 23rd to ask if the extension had been filed because her assistants refused to tell us over the phone. Samantha answered the door and lied, saying 'yes she had filed it'.

Following that, we continued to email and call her, with absolutely no response. On 8/10/20 we went to her Chico location where she again lied and said she had personally filed the extension. At that point she was made aware that we knew she was not being truthful because we had already contacted the IRS.

She then offered her services at a discounted rate (?!?!?!?!?!) to resolve the issue of her causing us penalties for not filing on time and admitted that they had lost all of our documents we had submitted. Why and how would this make logical sense to continue to work with somebody who has proven to be completely 100% incompetent and non-responsive?

Melissa filed our taxes and we couldn’t be more happy with the professionalism and swift actions to get them filed. This was our first time filing as a married couple and using a EA, and the first time I don’t feel like the government is pulling one over on me. I will recommend Willingham and Lotspeich along with Melissa to any friend or family member!
