I had such a good experience for my birthday! The chef was cooking and chatting with us the whole time. The chicken knee was one of my favorite pieces and I left full and happy. The atmosphere is cozy and feels very personal since the chef is cooking right in front of you. And the chef isn’t shy to drink with you, so share a drink and enjoy the food!!!

I visited Torishin in April 2025 and had such a memorable experience! From the moment I stepped inside, the staff made me feel so welcomed and at ease - I instantly knew I was going to have a good time. I chose the Omakase option, which was a perfect way to try a range of dishes even though I'm not the most adventurous eater. The staff were incredibly thoughtful, checking in with my friend and me ahead of our meal to see if we preferred certain cuts of meat so they could tailor the experience to our individual tastes.

Throughout the meal, our server was attentive and knowledgeable, always nearby to answer questions and make sure we were comfortable and enjoying everything. Watching the chef prepare each course right in front of us made the atmosphere even more special and added to the night!

As for the food itself - it was absolutely incredible. My favorite dishes were their popular chicken "scallops," which were so juicy and flavorful, and the gindara fish, which was perfectly flaky and delicious.

Between the warm service, the amazing food, and the lively, welcoming atmosphere, Torishin truly gave me a night to remember. I can't wait to come back!

Had a great experience at Torishin. The service was attentive and the ambiance was vibrant and welcoming. The interior is pretty large with a lot of seating options. We sat the chef counter in the back where you can watch the chef roast the skewers right in front of you. Food was delicious. Had the signature omakase which has different parts of the chicken as the main protein. All of the chicken was cooked perfectly, none that were remotely dry, and all seasoned very well. Each offering a different texture and flavor profile. I was very impressed by the preparation and presentation. Overall highly recommend this experience!

Torishin is hands-down the best yakitori restaurants in New York City. I’ve dined here multiple times, and each visit is consistently exceptional. The service is professional yet friendly, and the food is beyond delicious—authentic Japanese charcoal-grilled chicken done to perfection. You’ll gain a whole new appreciation for different chicken cuts, from tender thigh to gizzards, oysters, and hearts.

This time, I tried their Dassai sake tasting promo—$29 for three premium glasses that paired perfectly with the yakitori. It’s a fantastic deal if you love sake or want to explore high-quality Japanese pairings.

Every visit feels like a quick escape to Tokyo. If you're looking for Michelin-quality yakitori, top-tier sake, and an intimate Japanese dining experience in NYC, this place is a must.

Great place to get some yakitori in the city. Each skewer was tender and juicy, with just the right amount of char to it. Staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely check it out if you get the chance!

My partner and I dined at Torishin last year (3/1/24), and had one of the most memorable meals of our life. The food was incredibly delicious, the service was outstanding (huge shout out to Yuriko! I'm so sorry it took me so long to write this review!), and the overall experience made it feel like we were visiting Japan all over again.

We both ordered the omakase special and our server, Yuriko, helped us choose two bottles of sake that both fit our personal preferences and complemented our meal. The omakase special was perfectly paced and each serving is perfectly sized so that you will definitely be full and satisfied by the end of the 15 courses. Even though we were already full near the end of the courses, I was dying to try a couple of items from the a la carte menu, and the crispy skin, pork, and duck breast skewers did not disappoint!

We also really enjoyed watching the chefs as they worked in the kitchen, mere feet away. They made our meal particularly special as it was my birthday and they brought out my matcha ice cream with a candle and say happy birthday to me! They even offered to take photos of us. Everyone, from the hostess to Yuriko to the chefs, were so welcoming and kind, and I still think of our meal and experience at Torishin fondly.

Last but not least, I have a shellfish and fish allergy and they made sure that there was no cross contamination.

Went here for a date night & as soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted & escorted to the chef’s select counter! This experience exceeded all expectations! It’s totally worth the premium as your tastebuds are transported to various textures and flavors with each bite.

I appreciated the accommodations & friendly service of our waiter and the two chefs behind the counter that evening. We were able to converse easily with the chefs while they worked their magic with each dish.

I have to note that the sake was also delicious (& strong)! Would highly recommend this establishment & for people to book a time slot for their select counter!

Located in Hell's Kitchen, it offers an authentic Japanese dining experience with meticulously grilled skewers, crafted using premium ingredients like organic chicken and Kishu Binchotan charcoal
The ambiance is serene, and the sound of crackling charcoal adds to the sensory delight.
