Whatever you do, do not allow Telco to be your only banking option. I have accounts at 2 other banks. They never answer the phone. The app hardly works. And in a disaster, they just close and shut down the app completely. Leaving you with NO access to your funds. Their loan products are decent but access to services and cash is terrible.

I have banked with Telco Community Credit Union for probably around 20 years. They were located on Hwy 70 which was super convenient because traffic on and around Hwy 70 was manageable. I used to be able to call the branch, which is no longer the case. All calls are routed to a call center and the phone rings into the first available branch. I was on hold this morning for 11 minutes and 48 seconds to be picked up at a branch other than the Hickory branch. Customer service is not high on the priority list. Would not recommend.

Telco is a great bank. I’ve been a member for going on 6 years and I’m glad I made the switch. Their staff at the hickory branch is always very friendly and helpful. Their loan agent is awesome. He makes things happen and is always thorough with the process. Not to mention, they have great rates.

This branch has been an amazing experience through my transition from teenage to adult years. Everyone there treats you with the dignity and respect we all rightfully deserve. All around good caring staff. Thank you guys for being there when I don't have a clue what to do sometime!👏👏👏👏

I have always went to the Hickory branch at the old location but now choose Morganton.
I have always liked Telco and have been a member for around 15 years or so, but the phone call I just had with an operator has me second guessing Telco period.
I called to get in touch with someone at a branch, the operator said who do you want to talk to?
I said just patch me through to the Hickory branch (I know the people there a little better).
She says well I can't just patch you through.....
I have to know who you want to talk to....
Okay nevermind I am good!

First, the people reviewing need to acknowledge the rules and log in to their accounts to know about changes to their banking system and what's going on i their account. Second, I have learned to navigate the CU's online service, grateful. I do not like having to wait for assistance on the phone, excessively, to take care of problems with my account. I never talk to an agent at the location. Instead, I have to wait to discuss my issues with the main in Asheville, and if I need to speak with the local , I have to wait to get a call. It is like a chain of waiting. You must use business cards to speak directly and may not, i.e., back on the chain of transfer to the main. A person to take care of the customer service at the locations would be great. I know it is costly to the account holders. Dealing with this keeps down interest on loans and gives rewards to all for suffering. Surely, there is a solution to the calling chain. I will say the perks and the customer being part owner is better than being in a central bank.

There's not.much good about Telco aside from it being a credit union. The new location is god awful. No longer in Hickory, in one of the worst traffic areas on 127. Building is nicer but getting in and out is an absolute worst nightmare. Not to mention they didn't even inform their members of the change of location. Found out from a piece of paper in the window of the old location's door.
