I had a truly disappointing experience with Simply Taxes. After a decent experience with them in 2023, I returned for my 2024 taxes, expecting professionalism and expertise. Unfortunately, Jennifer, who isn’t a CPA, provided incorrect information about my taxes and seemed unprepared. She didn’t ask the right questions, made huge mistakes about my property, and gave wildly inconsistent numbers about what I owed or could expect as a return.

When I reached out to Erin, the owner, for help, she didn’t address my concerns at all. Instead, she defended Jennifer and dismissed me. Worse, when I said I’d take my business elsewhere, Erin deleted my entire file immediately while I was still on the phone with her! When I requested my 2023 tax documents, Erin sent them with key pages missing — clearly trying to cover something up. When I asked about it she said "I did not leave it out on purpose. It didn't print with the return." Definitely a LIE, she was hoping I didn't notice.

For the record I did give them CORRECT information, Erin wants to blame me and H&R block for errors. but H&R Block did my 2022 taxes and Erin did my 2023 taxes so, if there was an error I guess she didn't catch it and now wants to blame me and H&R block instead of taking accountability or even fixing the problem.

You would think this place was good based off the reviews, which is why I'm sharing my experience. If you want a trustworthy and honest tax person, do not go here. I'm sure Erin will gaslight me again and shift the blame to me or give excuses in response to my review, but I wouldn't expect anything more because that's what she does best.

This lack of accountability, professionalism, and honesty is concerning. It feels like they’re more interested in avoiding responsibility than providing quality service. I would not recommend Simply Taxes to anyone.

Why is this my choice? Responsiveness and comprehensive knowledge are key to keeping in compliance with all tax laws and regulations. This was my first year working with Erin and the Simply Taxes team! I'm a small business owner who needed help filing business taxes for the first time. I was happy with my referral from the moment I walked into their office.

I met with Emmily to go over my bookkeeping and personal taxes first. And even though she isn't a CPA like Erin, I could tell she knew what she was doing! Not only was she professional, she was extremely funny and personable.

A couple days later, I came back for a business strategy meeting with Erin. Erin handled all of my business materials, which I was thankful for. This year, I had a complicated return with several W2s, 1099s, and my business return. In our meeting, Erin took the time to explain how I could maximize my return, and helped me strategize business decisions for my next upcoming year. She talked me through compiling my profit and loss statements, income and expense reports, and projected income. I appreciate that she took the time to explain everything to me fully in a way that made me feel confident in my own ability to manage my business! I've filed with Turbo Tax the last seven years, but I knew I couldn't do it alone this year.

At the end of the day, I really needed someone like Emmily and Erin to help me through these new changes in my life. I was feeling lost in my business adventure, and now I feel confident that the strategies Erin helped me come up with are actionable and within reach for me. Everyone there was trustworthy, dependable, and (most importantly) personable. I felt like I mattered here! I highly recommend Simply Taxes for any small business owner in the Phoenix area and beyond. I will definitely be back next year!!!
