Dealing with Rita Shang can’t be any more difficult. Talking to her is like you are asking for a big favor that you don’t deserve and you don't get treated like a customer. Thanks to her, I ended up amending my tax return, also overpaying my tax. Avoid her and the firm if you can. The thing is that they are not cheap so it’s complete waste of money. Rita Shang doesn't really care about your questions, consistently makes mistakes, and is very impatient. With their price and poor quality, it’s a wonder that they are still in business.

Rita Shang is soooo unprofessional, irresponsible, and rude! She lies about the price and hides tax docs which have been ready many days ago. I should follow the advice posted here much more earlier! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TAX SERVICE AT ALL AND THEY DESERVE A ZERO!

Don't go for it! Lack of expertise, professional ethics, integrity or respect! Shame on them! Would give 0 star if there is an option.

I had been with them for 3 years before. This year I started using Turbo Tax by my own and found one big mistake by Joanna last year on “child tax credit”, leading to my loss of $900 federal refund!

Last year when Joanna delivered the first draft of Form 1040 to me, I noted my new born son was not checked as "qualifying for child tax credit" under Line 6C, and she explained to me it is because my newborn baby was born at the end of 2016, not living with parents for the entire year and was thus not qualified. I fully respected her interpretation and relied on her expertise.

However, when I am working on 2017 return by myself this year, I learned that there is exception for newborns who are deemed to have been living with parents more than half year and thus may qualify for child tax credit. When I brought this issue to Joanna over phone the first time, she first responded the same that newborn is not living with parents for the entire year and is not qualified. When I mentioned the exemption rules, she then responded that she had once ran with this Line 6C box checked for me last year and the result remained unchanged. Assuming this was the fact, I do not see the reason she not to check that box even if it does not impact the final result, nor it seem to me a professional way of describing the facts on return forms. Despite the unhappiness, I remained tolerance and requested her to double check it for me. She simply said this is peak season and that I should send email to her only after Apr 15. On my second call half hour later, I insisted that I am sure we qualify for 2016 child tax credit when I figured out our adjusted gross income by myself. She immediately denied that she ever ran the child tax credit for us last year (which she just alleged half hour ago) and began to complain the new system employed by the firm. I can no longer tolerate such dishonesty and unprofessional way of handling this matter.

Soon she send me over the amended Form 1040X for me to collect the loss of $900 from IRS, without any apologies.

I then requested the refund of $ 250 service fee charged last year. However, she replied coldly that “We have delivered the amended return to you, so we will not refund you the tax preparation fee for 2016” and that “Our company could pay $10 shipping fee for you. Other than that there is nothing we could offer.”

When talking to Rita (assuming a managerial role) for service fee refund, I feel it a shame that she replied with pride that “we made mistakes, big or small, very often”, and that “we are human beings, but robots”. She further claimed that the firm has delivered service to me and thus ought to retain the service fee, and that the only solution is to amend the filing, other than refund.

Apart from these, there are some other occasions throughout the past years that I can tell the unprofessional conduct and disrespect from this firm. I know some friends who use this firm sharing the same.

Rita and Maria is unprofessional and rude. The need more than 5 months to prepare my tax return. The most important is they don't signed it and always provide wrong information and advice to me. They even don't help me to apply for the ITIN.

When you send mail or call them to check the status, they always say they are busy and they never update any status to you aggressively. The only thing they will do aggressively is to let you pay money. The worst thing is due to there slow action, I got penalty from IRS and they said they only respond for tax preparation. And they don't make any apologies.

There are lots of CPA in bay area can speak Mandarian. Get away from this firm or you will learn lession from it
