I’m not sure what has happened the past few months because when we started working with this agency 5 years ago, we were very satisfied and felt we were valued as customers. When our rates skyrocketed (regardless of clean MVR the past 10 years) our agent worked to find a different policy with a different underwriter and kept us around our same payment. We had always been pleased with the service until the last 2 times I have had to reach out. The first time, I had a difficult time reaching my agent because she was at another location and they sent me to her phone and I left a message and never got a call back and so I called again the next day and finally had to send an email. This last time, we recently traded one vehicle and I was needing to provide all the information to get the new vehicle on my policy. I called the office Friday at 3:45pm despite Google saying it was open, I got the “office is closed message”. No worries, I will call Monday. I called Monday morning and was sent to my agents voicemail and left a message with my need. 2 hours later, I sent an email (it seems to be easier for her to get to) and she replied “I will call you shortly, I’m in a meeting but your new truck is covered”. No problem. I replied thanking her and waited…. And waited…. By Wednesday, I hadn’t heard back. Maybe I misinterpreted “shortly” but the point of me calling Monday was not that I was worried it wasn’t covered, but I work in dekalb county and so in order to get my tag switched over (in Etowah) I have to go when my schedule allows and if I showed up at the DMV without a current insurance policy listing my truck, I will be sent away and have to come back. Now maybe I have been moved to another agent and didn’t know it but again, that should be communicated to me. Eventually, I went on my app and added my vehicle and prayed I did it correctly with the right coverages. I know we live in a technology age that allows us the ability to do that but I would think that customer service is what keeps brick and mortar places like this in business because what keeps everyone from just going online and picking their own policies? I don’t know the ins and outs which is why I have an agent. And I can appreciate that people get busy (I’m busy as well) so I feel like waiting 2 days was sufficient time to allow for more important things to be handled. If you can’t get to it, delegate it to someone else. There are so many options vs just not following through.
