When I was considering selling my home, there was only one Realtor that I considered. Mark Vinton. He had represented the sellers on my first home purchase, and although I trusted my Realtor from that transaction, I knew Mark was a better fit for me. Why? I had a number of questions about my purchase and although he didn’t have to do so, he gladly answered a number of text messages after I had moved in free of charge because he really is a great guy. I’m convinced that it’s not about the money for Mark, he genuinely loves helping people move into their new homes and putting smiles on faces.
So I made the decision to sell my home in March 2020, and met with Mark for an initial discussion. We talked about the current market, and how things were a bit different with COVID-19. Ultimately about a week after our discussion, I was laid off from my job. Obviously I couldn’t sell right then, but Mark understood and cared and checked in on me periodically to make sure I was doing ok mentally. In time I found another job. But was still unsure about whether I should sell or not.
In June 2020 Mark checked back again. He was watching the market and with low interest rates and limited inventory he saw an opportunity to pounce. The whole prospect of selling my condo and finding a new one was daunting but Mark really helped me break it down into bite sized chunks. He gave me enough information without being overwhelming.
We listed the home and our strategy was to price (a bit) low to sell high. I think Mark has some of the best real estate instincts in the business because this was a genius decision. We had a feeding frenzy on our hands and had 5 offers within the first few days of being on the market. Another great instinct of his was a strategical counter that landed us offers upwards of 104% of the list price of the home. Within 5 days we had an accepted offer that was very favorable to me.
Not only did Mark get top dollar for my property, but also he immediately started helping me find my NEXT home, which had a contingent offer accepted BELOW asking price. I honestly don’t know how Mark pulled it off but it was the best case scenario and happened within a week of my home being listed.
The escrow process was extremely weird, without getting into too much detail there were some very wonky circumstances to both transactions which Mark handled with an expertise very few other Realtors would have been able to. He was really the driving force on both transactions and he navigated difficult situation with a calm demeanor and temperament which really kept me sane through the process. I felt I had bothered him so much that I was worried I would lose an amazing realtor in the process when it was all said and done. But he said, “you’re stuck with me”. I honestly even felt a bit guilty at the end of the transaction because Mark Vinton got me that good of a deal in a very difficult time. If you’re in Southern California and you choose a realtor besides Mark Vinton, that’s okay, but you’re wrong.
