Laurie was our agent, when my father received a notice that Nationwide would no longer write policies for Oak Island, we called Laurie and were told that many folks are affected and that a new quote could not be provided until we were within 30 days of renewal. I was told that we would hear back with a new quote and Dad’s policy would not lapse. I called back the day before renewal and then again on the day the policy was to expire. The policy offered to dad on the last day had a disclaimer stating that the proposed insurer was not backed by the state and if they went bankrupt, the state of NC would not step in. I called State Farm and ended up in the NC joint insurance pool.
Laurie did not treat my father like a valued customer.
