I represented a tenant in a building owned by Jim Lake Co, where the commission was due Oct 1. It took over 4 months for them to pay a commission check, with me checking in/asking for updates. Finally, 4 months later, I called their accounting company directly to ask for the reason for the delay, and it turns out that Jim Lake Co had not been using the correct email address. After a 5 minute call with their accounting team, they had the check ready for pick up.
This should have been done by Jim Lake's rep, Suzy Featherston, but their team never took the time to make a call to THEIR accounting team to check in.
Very unprofessional. I will do my absolute best to keep tenants from choosing locations owned by Jim Lake Co.

I rented from one of their properties for a full year... it was a complete nightmare. They overcharged us for rent and late fees and everything in between. Their repair people are terrible, we didn’t have a working shower for two weeks because they wouldn’t send anyone out to fix it and then when they did they did not fix it properly. They did not insulate the floorboards and we had fumes from Downstairs rising up into our apartment. If we would not have evacuated we might have died. This happened multiple times and I called to let them know and emailed to let them know and they never got back to me. The staff seem to be aware that what they are told to do is wrong, but they can’t really do anything about it. There were multiple repairs that should’ve been done that were never completed. They do not care about their tenets at all. This company is run by sketchy people. When we organized a meeting with Amanda Lake, one of the owners, and expressed that we were upset about some of the issues we were having, she decided to not allow us to renew our lease less than a month before we were about to renew. Then on top of all that, they refused to give us our security deposit back even though we left it in good condition and they claimed that we owed them money to make repairs on things that were in need of repair when we moved in. It’s really sad because I liked my apartment and I normally get along just fine with my landlords. These people are terrible, it doesn’t matter how great the place is or how great of a price it’s at, it is not worth it. Save yourself a lot of time and never lease from any of the Jim Lake properties.

Not good landlords all. They are out for the money only and doesn't like to maintain property. Rented for a year and had an issue towards the end of my lease with intentions to lease again. Gave them an estimate from a company that does mold removal along with an email stating my concern with the presence of mold and the dangers of it. Well long story short they told me that they didn't want to lease to me again. Apparently they do not like tenants who will make them uphold their end of the lease agreement.

Not only do they not answer texts, they ignore you until you have to call upper management to get ahold of someone. I waited two months for a text back to get my mail after I moved out. I lived without a deadbolt for a year. (After telling them I needed one I was ignored.) When I said I had a leak they could only fix it when I was not home. Leak was never fixed. Not happy at all. Currently dealing with inconveniences because of this.

Do not rent from them! Its almost four months since my lease terminated and they still will not give me a my deposit back. I've contacted them so many time and each time they act like they don't know whats going on and say they will look into it. They obviously do not care about small business's.

I came to eat at Pop’s Burgers in Waxahachie, Tx. Best burgers, onion rings, and shakes around. This building has been having issues with the AC since the beginning of summer. Jim Lake owns this business. He is not taking care of the issue. I’d just like to know why he isn’t maintaining this property. It’s mid July. Please get it fixed. I’m sure it’s hurting his business. It’s too hot in here. It’s not fair to rent a building and not maintain the building. Just FYI. I’m in the middle of cancer treatment and this heat is not what I needed.

Very nice staff and very professional. Beautiful atmosphere. Went to inquire about one of their unlisted properties and though the answer was no the person in charge treated me with respect and was very transparent.
