It's better late than never. This occurrence took place in February 2022. I was calling around for an estimate for whole life insurance and Hodges Insurance caught my attention based on their positive reviews. So, I’ve decided to give them a call. Well, let’s just say things didn't go well for me at Hodges. Chris, an insurance specialist there, gave off the impression of being professional—that is, until he shared an email he sent to the underwriter. He wasn’t aware he included me in the email. Let's just say that God fixed it and revealed himself.

It reads:
Hey! Hope you are well. Got a lady kicking tires for a whole life policy. 37 year old no tobacco on BP meds. No other issues she says. Don’t they all? Can ai get a simple 50K quote for her? Sure she is gonna balk when she sees the cost. Thanks!

I’m like wow. “Don’t they all”. “Sure she is gonna balk when she sees the cost.” I’m like omg God. I am being profile here. I couldn’t believe what I just read. He wasn’t even aware I was included in the email. The email was obnoxious and had a tone of stereotype, as well as discrimination. The way you begin and end an email correspondence should reflect the formality and degree of respect you both have for the other person. I was very disappointed because this company had such positive feedback. I was deeply offended after reading that. I then forward the email to that location's management. Emily, one of the owners, contacted me. Emily was incredibly kind, forgiving, and remorseful. She was truly embarrassed as well as disgusted about that email and her family's business. I acknowledged that everyone makes mistakes, but I also explained that something like this matter isn’t good and actions like this can destroy their family business and legacy. I assure her that all is forgiven and advise her workers to communicate respectfully and professionally. She assured me that she would see to this. She did ask if I wanted to move forward with the life insurance, but I said no because Chris left me feeling uneasy and in bad taste. Emily felt so horrible!!! She understood as well as acknowledged this and again expressed her heartfelt regret on the company's behalf.
