We have used Heartland for several years, first for our accounting and then, because we were so pleased with the service, for our payroll. All of our transactions have been handled by Crystal or Carol and they have been wonderful. Crystal is always there with just the right answer at just the right time.

To start, we found Floyd himself to be pleasant. However, our experience with this firm was overall extremely unpleasant. When we met originally for our tax consultation, we discussed with Floyd that we needed some accurate numbers to determine some financial planning we were doing this year, as well as to determine our filing strategy for last year. We were given numbers on refunds and tax liabilities and took them home to consider, as well as an invoice for the service (and one invoice alone) with the assurance that we just needed to choose which way we wanted to file and to come back in to sign and pay the invoice.

However, when we came back to sign the final documents, we owed significantly MORE than the numbers we were originally given AND we were going to get back significantly LESS than the amount originally given to us. This, by itself, was tolerable because we wanted the taxes done correctly, but our next experience sealed the deal.

Heartland then presented us with two new invoices that totaled $100 more than the invoice Floyd had given us.

Heartland staff explained that this was because we chose to file on separate returns, but (a) ignored the fact that they had already invoiced us with a single cost and had never said it would cost differently to file separately and (b) were very rude about it when asked. Again, Floyd himself was pleasant, but his staff was generally not.

With tax filing season in full swing, I'm sympathetic that they are extremely busy. That said, I will not be using Heartland in the future, as we feel we were treated very unprofessionally by the firm as a whole. Counting the differences in refund, tax liabilities, and added fee from the firm itself, the total cost of the experience was something like 50% off from what we'd originally been told were the numbers.

Hi this is Crystal with Heartland Tax Service. This is the only way we are able to reply to the reviews on this page, because Google makes you pay for this service. There are 2 replies’ on here that have never been clients of ours. I think they are confusing us with Heartland Tax Solutions or Heartland Payroll Solutions. We are not affiliated with these companies. If you click on Mr. Odoms’ name, all of his other reviews are based in Virginia. We are based out of Little Rock, Arkansas. If Google would let us reply to the individual reviews, we could easily resolve the negative reviews.
Regarding Mr. Shumate's review. If I remember correctly, he came in with additional information after Floyd had printed the tax return and had it ready for signatures. So, the original quote would not have included this information. We try our best not to allow this to happen, but occasionally the person may forget to tell us about a business, rentals, etc... when we have the first initial consultation. We are truly sorry if this caused any inconvenience.
Regarding Mr. Smith, I am not aware of this specific incident, but I do know we always verify with the client the banking information, we even have you sign off on that information. With that being said, can accidents happen, absolutely, but we do our very best to prevent incidents like these. I am very sorry if this caused you any inconvenience.
We do not generally rely on Google for new clients, we depend on word of mouth, but no one likes to have negative comments. Especially when 2 of them are not even to do with your company. I wish Google would allow businesses to defend or respond to these comments without hijacking us for money.

Remember the positive reviews for Heartland can be written by Heartland. This review is a honest opinion from dealing with this company. After two years of reaching out to HEARTLAND TAX NON SOLUTION my tax situation is still in the same condition. I'm just $2200 broker. AND YES I USED THE WORD BROKER! A year in a half into my case and FINALLY being able to reach someone I was told "what we are doing is trying to let time pass by so HOPEFULLY some of my older years of debt would disappear" I finally decided to reach out to the IRS myself and asked for my last deposit of $750 back from the last $1500 they asked out of me, as they had not done anything further on my behalf. Have not been able to contact anyone from HEARTLAND NON SOLUTION or heard anything back from HEARTLAND NON SOLUTION. DO yourself a favor!!! I know dealing with the IRS can be scary and intimidating.... This is what companies like HEARTLAND NON SULUTION prey on! All the money you lose dealing with companies like this could have been a deposit on what is owed to the IRS, and setting up you own payment plan with the IRS. Companies like this are not doing anything you can't do yourself. Don't learn this the hard way as I did. I hope this review helps someone.

Hartland tax service did my taxes last year and they were fast, accurate and very pleasant to sit down and work with me. i have just made an appointment to leave my taxes with them this year

Getting passed the secretary Anne, and her disgraceful looks at you is the first step. First time I visted the office, I was greeted with not a "hello may I help you but a look of "why are you here and are you in the right place?".
When you get too the tax preparer his attitude is much better, but he put the wrong dam routing number in the banking information.
When I mentioned the issue to Anne, she tried everything in her power to put it off on me. She promised to return phone calls and did not. She basically is making it out to be my fault, When what truly happend is as I was begining too give him my routing information , He asked "what bank do you bank with?" , I told him and then he selected the option on his screen." Now i know I should have not let him rush me and i still should have verified it. Instead of waiting 5 days for a e-file i have to now wait 6 weeks to revcieve a electronic check in the mail.
