This is the worst hospital in the entire United States. Do not go there if you call 911 they will take you straight here. You should hang up and call missions in Asheville and go to that hospital

Haywood regional Medical Center is horrible From the minute, you step into the ER waiting room until the end of your visit probably 24 hours later without being admitted.

I spent the entire night in The ER and the nurse had an attitude and never gave me water food or anything to go to the bathroom. She refuse to give anything to me unless I said the word “bed pan.“ Does no sensitivity to people who have injuries or sicknesses and just cold and callous and just none of them could care less about the patients.

If you value your health and your mental health you need to avoid these people at all costs

We are from Haywood County and have watched the hospital go through many stages. My daughter delivered her daughter on January 2 and the hospital staff is what made it such a delightful experience. From Rachel in the cafeteria, Jessica in housekeeping, and HUGE shout out to Dr. D and all of the amazing staff in the maternity ward….each of YOU made us feel at home. My daughter wanted to have her baby and Haywood County and this family experience was worth it. Thank you all so much for loving my little girl and granddaughter the way you did. That shows you love us. I humbly appreciate everyone for taking such great care of my family. 💜

Scheduling for mammogram and breast MRI is a joke. I’ve had 5 calls in total - all with the incorrect info. These calls are all lengthy while I am at work, and still have not gotten procedure scheduled. I moved here from the Piedmont and have never experienced dysfunction in scheduling such as this

My mother is transitioning from living alone in Florida to moving in with her son and daughter in law. Talk about stress. To only add to that she needed surgery. We are beyond grateful for the professionalism, care and skill of HRMC. Emily met us at 5am!! How can anyone be so pleasant at that time! I can't think of a better first contacts for tired, scared families. The team of Kourtney, Jordyn and Rosa got her ready and comfortable (including warm blankets) with such efficiency. Dr. McAlvany was so caring and skilled in her care. We are so grateful!! The nurses in the room were also insistent on helping my elderly, wobbly post anesthesia mom with getting dressed. Although she initially protested, she was so grateful for the help, and I am grateful she didn't fall. So proud of our local, caring, professional hospital.

If your in dire need of medical attention I wouldn’t waist my time with Haywood. There’s nothing fast with them. I’ve sat in the waiting room for hours 104 fevers and just ended leaving. I will say the paternity floor is the bomb that’s why the 2 stars instead of one. Sorry Haywood but you’ve failed us one to many times I will be happy to amend my review once change is made. Keenan your a pathetic joke you could actually take 2 seconds and actually read these concerns but your to worried about what poor fool your going to scam next

Ambulance service was professional and kind. Once you arrive at the ER it turns to a playpen for adolescents. No respect. Doc walks up in your face and says nasty " what do you want me to do", can you believe that, how rude. Every body eating, laughing, listening to their music. What a joke this place has become. I asked to go the bathroom the guy says we need a urine sample, hands me a cup, no disinfectant. Thirty minutes later and after 4 or 5 had entered the bathroom it was still sitting on the sink. Poor 80 year old beside me was begging to go the bathroom, she was totally ignored even though they were 4 ft from her. I know she begged for close to an hr. Another patient asked for a bed pan, totally ignored. Finally someone came to the desk. The loud girl with the balls on her head, eating and laughing, she's the joke. Left oxygen tube in my nose for an hour even though wasn't hooked up, I could not see behind me. 2 rude, hateful men at the desk out front, who's in charge? My son called looking for me, he said they were rude on the phone. I left with someone else's paperwork. Did I get the right meds? Left hospital at 4 and by 6 they had not called in my medicine, I had a kidney stone. Pharmacies all closed at 6, thank god for Publix, they were the true winners. Had to pay for medicine out of my pocket because Ingles had closed. Haywood COUNTY deserves better than this. Someone needs to address this!

**UPDATE: Per Keenan's response, I called the number below and of course no one answered and there is no way to leave a message. Maybe it's time to report that doctor and nurse to the state? The repeated same response from Keenan only proves he isn't interested in actually fixing the problem being as it's been going on for years. I find it saddening that a "Buyer Beware" is appropriate for an emergency department. And wherever that lady got her MD must have a been a crackerjack box but she sure seemed to enjoy her social time as "lead cheerleader" at the nurses station as opposed to doing her job, or having anyone else for that matter do their job. I wouldn't bring my dog here. ** Went to the Emergency Department last night due to lower right quadrant pain persisting 2 days with an accompanying low grade fever. Was treated as of all I wanted was narcotic pain medication, never asked about my medical Hx, and the doctor pretended to auscultate my lungs by putting her stethoscope on my chest but the ear pieces were still around her neck. She one-fingered my stomach - which is far from proper palpation - not one vital sign was taken in the room, and I was left there for a long time by myself with nothing monitoring me. The doctor told me she will order a CT with contrast and walked out of the room. Not knowing my medical Hx, contrast is not something my kidneys can handle. Again, how would any one of them know that as they never asked one question about my medical Hx. She stated she could not perform an ultrasound because the ultrasound team had gone home. I’ve never met an ED doctor who couldn’t read a bedside ultrasound. Needless to say, I left. No one was paying attention and they were behaving as if it was social hour at the nurses station. Meanwhile, I was withering in pain and still am. I suppose I’ll just wait to see if my appendix ruptures as opposed to being treated before it threatens my life. This is how these medical folks treat people - as if they are god and can take one look at you and know what’s going on. Always looking for the easy way out by treating someone as if they’re seeking hard drugs instead of proper medical treatment. These folks need more training obviously because they need to do much, much better by their patience. And really, what kind of emergency department can’t do an ultrasound? I might as well went to the urgent care out the gate. Can’t wait to see what they think they’re gonna charge me.

We were so lucky to be at Haywood Regional on Jan 20, 2025. Our 17 y.o daughter had a fall while skiing, she fully dislocated her elbow and was in an enormous amount of pain. From EMS to everyone we came in contact with at Haywood Regional was top notch. They cared, they made us feel comfortable knowing she was in excellent hands, which she was. Kent, thank you for everything and staying focused and available, you were 100% invested in her care. Destiny, thank you for connecting with her and somehow becoming her bestie while taking care of her. The Doctor(s), I wish I remembered their names were amazing/perfect, they knew what to do for her. Every professional that stepped in the room deserves more praise than I can express. I'm at a loss, I cannot articulate the professionalism and compassion they displayed. This ER is a very well oiled machine, you should be very proud if you get to use this hospital. So much love to you all.
