A friend of mine recommended Nathan at Flong Tax Services to me after I had bad experience filing my taxes as a self employed individual and ended up with a massive bill.

Nathan gave me a wealth of great advice on what deductions to take and other strategies that I could use to lower my total bill, and he was able to save me a very significant amount of money on my taxes due to his expertise and knowledge of my line of work.

I was extremely stressed about what I would owe this year because of what happened last year, so it was a HUGE relief to find out that my bill is very reasonable and something I can handle. I’m very grateful to Nathan for his help, and highly recommended the tax professionals here. They are all very friendly and welcoming, and I’m very happy with the outcome of my return!

Generally Quality Tax preparation. however,

Good work for several years; however, for tax year 2021, the following:

The tax documents they prepared indicated that I had paid both Federal and Maryland real estate sales taxes in 2021. I had not. I have no idea how they/we miscommunicated vis. the amount of taxes I owed on the sale of the applicable commercial real estate. I wound up having to pay both the state of Maryland and the federal government tax and interest for missing their deadlines. As a result, I no longer use Flongs.

To update: 3 years later, pursuant to paying the tax and interest in full, the state of Maryland continues to Bill me for the penalty and the interest and penalty on that penalty. This comes in spite of my appeal to the State. I am now being eaten alive by the the MD. Tax computer system. Flongs is not responsible for that. Even so, I never told anyone at the company that I had paid the taxes in question.

Further, my opinion is that Flongs didn't offer me sufficient help in dealing with Maryland. I understand my former accountant's likely position: They did absolutely nothing wrong. Hopefully, they understand mine:

Nathan and Mac and everyone at Flong Taxes are SO AMAZING!! They not only do a phenomenal job with my taxes for my music business but they take so much of their time to teach me how to do everything correctly. Could not give a higher recommendation -- they need hundreds of stars!!!

The first tax year 2021 I used this Flong tax services they were great. It was only two people in the office (Max and Nathan) and they were pretty backed up but very attentive to our needs and responded expeditiously to all of our concerns. For tax year 2022 we received a completely different experience. My fiance and I dropped off both our personal taxes as well as our S-corp taxes. This was in March of 2023. We started receiving messages from the IRS that our taxes hadn’t been filed. I have been calling and leaving messages a minimum of once a week for the past 8 months and have not been able to reach Max or get a return call yet. Today I had the worst experience with Will Moore who was less than concerned with the status of our tax situation that they caused and was even less helpful even with being able to gather our documents so that we can take them somewhere else. If it comes down to us being charged $250 a month due to no file status from 2022, we will have to get an attorney involved.

Unless you have time to follow up in person (I live in Denver now and couldn’t) on your taxes weekly, I recommend you find someone else to work with.

Nate and Mack are the best tax service team I've ever worked with. Even in more complicated years they've taken all of the stress of doing taxes off my shoulders, and have been able to handle my crypto taxes with no problem too.
