Very unprofessional. Went to rent a unit for my son. They will take all of your income/employment information in advance. Very typical however after they have reviewed all of that information they ask you to pay for a background check. A standard in the industry so that was to be expected. Then they will deny you a rental based on your income. If you had the income well in advance and knew you were going to deny the rental, why did you charge for the background check?
They will also question everything on your application as if it were not true. He had a long work history with the same company and I assume they could not understand that. Hopefully the background check that he paid for cleared that up for them.
We were also looking to purchase the units. After the comments about buying, raising the rent or giving the current tenants the boot we opted out. We are all in this to make money BUT we don't treat our tenants this way.
