I have been a customer here for years. All the negative reviews are accurate. When I first became a client, they did a great job. That lasted only a couple years.

Last year, they told me they submitted my filing, but didn’t actually do it. I caught the mistake and reached out to them. They apologized and submitted my filing (not over a month after they claimed it was done) and I paid penalties for their mistakes.

They year prior, they made an error that would have cost me $13000 if I hadn’t reviewed their work and corrected their mistakes.

Customer service is abysmal. I have to drive every issue and escalate to get any response. Even then, is stall takes days or often weeks to get replies.

I’ve never felt less valued as a customer.

I am also concerned that they have made more mistakes than I caught. I don’t know whether it’s apathy, incompetence or a lack of ethics, or a combination of these, but whatever the reason, you should stay away. They won’t even upload the documents for previous years that are missing from their portal.

Buyer beware. I don’t think you can choose any worse than DragonTax.

Update: They uploaded the docs and suddenly found the motivation to respond promptly once I sent them a screenshot of this review and offered to report them to the better business bureau. It’s incredible how something that “might incur a document retrieval fee” and was taking forever was suddenly handled so swiftly. I asked them to also delete my data, which they claimed to have done within a day of receiving the request. At this point, I don’t trust them to follow through on anything, but they claim it’s been done.

In my experience this company is expensive, unresponsive, inept, unprofessional, and lacks the attention to detail that is crucial tax preparation.

I still would strongly suggest you look elsewhere for your tax preparation needs.

I've been a customer of Dragon Tax for a few years now and have had nothing but great experiences. They respond to emails quickly, are very knowledgable, and have been proactive in helping me with myriad tax and financial situations that have come my way. I struggle to think of what they could have done to make the relationship even better, it's been a truly wonderful experience. Especially in an arena where the risks are so high and the details so important, Dragon Tax delivers!

One of the worst tax filing company I had dealt with… they are slow in responses, don’t respond to emails and calls. They delayed my payments by so long that I ended up paying fines and penalties on them. Even now my taxes are not filed yet.

Update as of Aug 3: The response from the owner is seriously laughable. Nice childish spin to divert their ridiculous cheap and distasteful customer service and tax preparation service onto payments. I received any kind of tax preparation documents only after 4 months, that too after finding their main office number from multiple avenues as they wouldn't lift calls, respond to voice mails or even reply to emails. Tax filers be wary of these guys and stay away from them, I lost so much money on penalties because of delay in filing taxes and relying on these guys is totally avoidable.

I onboarded and made payments in March 2022 and I received tax filing documents in end of July 2022. And this guy is audacious enough to even talk about the time and effort they took to review my documents. I'm now scared how bad these guys prepared my taxes.One of the worst companies to even engage with, forget about taxes. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!!!!

Negative stars. The worst accounting company I've worked with. The were incredibly nice and responsive during the onboarding calls, but everything following was a NIGHTMARE. They pretend to care, they're unresponsive to emails, they make empty promises, miss deadlines, and think an automated messaging system is good communication. Everything is automated to the point where you don't even know who's doing your taxes. You rarely will get to speak with an actual CPA accountant. I literally have to fight to speak with an accountant, which I have not even spoken to one yet to this date. They only send their customer relations guy or receptionist. If you want to speak with a preparer or your bookkeeper, the customer relations guy needs to be there, like a babysitter. It's really bizarre and they're so unprofessional. Call them if you want an unreliable tax company that's unresponsive after you sign up, and never give you updates on your tax status besides "we're working on it" for 3-5 months. Expect everything to take forever, esp if you have a question or need to speak with your accountant (which you probably never will get to actually speak with), expect cold emails and 1-2 week wait times. NO URGENCY with this business.

Dragon tax is slow in response. And what is worse is that they mistakenly paid both my Federal and State tax payment twice in 2021 tax year!!! That's really really bad, now I have to communicate back and forth with my bank and also the IRS to get the payment back. They didn't do their diligent work.

Please think twice if you want to choose their service.

One of the absolute worst tax preparation firms I’ve ever worked with!
They offer decent fees at beginning to pull you in and have you sign engagement letters only not honor their own end of the bargain. They more than double their fees every year. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable, especially their gatekeeper (Christine). It’s an absolute disaster to deal with them and
I don’t recommend this firm even to my worst enemy.
