Our experience with Pat was awful, error after error. We picked up our taxes to take elsewhere due to lack of communication and mistakes made by Pat herself. Pat always advised she would correct her errors, but wasn't capable. When we picked up our 1099's and other information, her son made a comment in the office "what, we're not fast enough", nope and you gave us another couples 1099, just sloppy. Believe the reviews, find anywhere else!

Pat had her granddaughter fill out my forms and submit them. The direct deposit information was entered in wrong, and my refund was shown to have been deposited into a different account other than mine. After multiple attempts to get her to correct it, she kept saying she was waiting for the IRS to get back to her. This has gone on for over 2 years. Now she simply doesn't respond to my calls, and has totally blown me off. I'm out nearly $2500 because of incompetence. Zero attempts to make it right. And doesn't seem to care. DO NOT USE HER! USE ANYONE ELSE. Totally unacceptable, and borderline fraudulent business practices!

Pat failed to communicate in a timely manner (if she responded at all) and to report all our income as stated in documents we provided, resulted in a$3000+ bill from the IRS a year later.

Pat Dickerson filed our 2021 taxes. We brought her all our documentation March 7. She told us she could take our case on. We had nothing too complicated for a professional (I thought)… two incomes, filing jointly, dividends from various stock holdings, standard purchase of a residence, school tuition paid. Over the course the next ten days, we sent various receipts to Pat on her request to see if itemization would help; ultimately, we took the standard deduction.

I heard nothing from Pat over the next month. April 13, five days before the April 18 deadline, I started calling to see if my taxes had been prepared. Six calls went unreturned and two emails went unanswered before finally hearing back from Pat via phone on April 27 with a request to come sign the documents. My middle initial was incorrect on all the documents, an easy fix she told me she would correct. We received a reasonably sized return on taxes paid.

Approximately a year later, though, I got a notice from the IRS requesting over $3000 due to unreported income. I checked the included list of items underreported and not reported… They included my INCOME from my job and numerous 1099 items. The stock dividends and my income were the primary reason we sought a professional’s help (as I had received some tuition assistance from my employer, I wanted to be sure I filed correctly). The sizable bill was due one month from its receipt in the mail.

I contacted Pat via email, asking for guidance on how to proceed, hoping that maybe there was a valid accounting reason items were not reported. Three days later, she responded with a request for a copy of the IRS’s request. Four days later, I sent her a copy of the document. It has now been 39 days with no response. We paid the $3000+ bill.

Thankfully, because of all this, I learned that I am legally responsible for whatever my accountant reports on my behalf because I signed the documents, expecting Pat to have performed her duties well (enough). I have no idea if she is insured against this sort of error (as many accountants are), as she hasn't gotten back to me.

I probably should have turned around when I saw the unorganized state of the office.

In short, I do not recommend Dickerson Bookkeeping & Tax services, if not for the failure of service then for the failure of communication.

horrible experience all around. My husband and i came here this year to get our taxes done. Pat was extremely unresponsive and took a long time to get back to us about our return. We had an agreement before entering into business with her about the price and she changed it at the end to be three times more expensive. we got significantly less than if we would have filed ourselves online. very upset and disappointed. go here if you want to be hustled.
