I have been a customer of Nationwide Insurance, Cook Agency for 27 years. According to G.S. 58-36-30 (b1), my home insurance should be $2188.00 but I’m being charged $3932.00 which is 55.64% more than what is suggested by the North Carolina Insurance Commission. I have only filed 1 claim in 27 years and that claim was for a roof replacement on the home I owned before the home that I’m in now. There has never been a claim paid by this insurance company in all the years that I’ve lived here which is greater than 34 years. I called Cook Insurance and spoke to Gina, her only explanation was that my home insurance rate is affected by my credit score. My insurance is paid by my home mortgage, one of the largest banks in America and my mortgage is current and Nationwide Insurance has never been delayed in receiving payment. I called 3 other insurance companies and within 3 hours, had 3 quotes all under $2000 with the lowest being $1687.00 which resulted in a 233% savings. First thing tomorrow, we are pulling insurance for our home, 32 Ft Class A Motor Home, 2023 Honda CRV and a 2008 Honda CRV from Nationwide Insurance, Cook Agency and I’m filing complaints with the North Carolina Attorney General and the North Carolina Insurance Commissioner. I have written both complaints and included all corresponding information for a successful complaint.

I’m a customer of 27 years and this is how this business treated me. The Cook Insurance Agency doesn’t care about their customers and I would suggest if you are doing business with this company that you get 3 estimates from other carriers and compare prices. As if this business could get any worse, today I received a hate filled Instagram from Gina’s sister Lora Smith, whom doesn’t work for Nationwide Insurance Steve Cook Agency and she lives in Florida. Gina’s professionalism has struck a new low and further reflects the image this insurance agency has with its clients! I resent the fact that I must give them one star!
