BEWARE OF SULLIVAN & SERWITZ
HORRIBLE RESULTS

Started May 2013, term Jan 2018 (nearly 5 yrs). S&S said we were perfect candidates and targeted annual return of “inflation + 5%” (say min 7%) with expectation of losses in first couple years and may take 4-5 years to hit target. 2% annual fee: 1% to invest mgr, 1% to S&S. S&S service/advice of minimal value, and what advice they provided, much was faulty. All we wanted was the targeted 7% net annual return. Meanwhile the S&P 500, NASDAQ & Russell 2000 were all up well over 50%. Our net return 13%, less than 3%/yr vs. 7% target. Pathetic! We invested equal amounts with each of the 3 managers S&S uses as they recommended and none performed! Kahn Brothers took close to 4 years to get fully invested and returned approx 12% after nearly 5 years. Robotti invested quickly and heavily in energy stocks and we got hammered, returning approx 7% after nearly 5 years. Round Hill did the “best” returning about 20% after nearly 5 years, but could only invest 20% of the portfolio in stocks with 80% in bonds, thus being paid 2% to manage a bond fund! Having followed all advice given by S&S (Marshall Serwitz and Robert Sullivan) and complaining about continued lousy results, their solution—terminate the relationship. All I can say is you have been warned! Avoid them!
