I have a few ISOs (Incentive Stock Options) and was looking for financial guidance on how to minimize the amount of taxes I would have to pay via AMT. I tried doing my own research (which helped me understand some basics) but for my specific situation, I felt like I might potentially lose out on a lot of money if I didn't seek professional guidance.

I searched up local CPAs and found Brickley Wealth Management on Reddit. At first glance, I found their website to be simple and elegant, and it had loads of useful information in regards to what services they offered.

I loved that they placed the "Schedule A Call" button in the top-right corner of their website and I was able to schedule a consultation call just by selecting a time slot, providing basic info, and then giving some additional information on what I was hoping to get help with.

On the day of the call, I got to speak with Nathan Brickley via Zoom, and he was incredibly personable and helpful. He helped determine whether they would be a good fit for me, and vice-versa, and he provided some general financial advice to point me in the right direction.

Although we did find that I wouldn't be a suitable client at the present time since I didn't reach the minimum investment amount and because of the limited amount of clients they are currently taking, Nathan kindly referred me to someone he thought may be better suited to help. I thought that action alone spoke volumes about the kind of work that they do, because it's uncommon for people to stick their head out to help others in the way they he did.

Based on this experience alone, I would love to work with Nathan and the other folks at Brickley Wealth Management for financial advice and asset management in the future.

I was looking for a firm that has expertise of both CPAs and CFPs (certified financial planners). I spoke with their admin who took detailed notes and the owner Steve Brickley called me back within a couple of hours. I was specifically looking for guidance, from a numbers perspective, on whether it made sense for us to buy a house in the area. He spoke with me for over an hour - he asked lots of questions and I answered and gave him details of our finances. We then had a discussion on different scenarios of what was feasible, drawbacks and opportunities from what he'd learned from his own and clients' paths, ideas for alternatives, and who I might speak with for a more detailed look at different future scenarios/stress tests (and how I might also get some additional insights from chatgpt like tools). He was candid about what his firm offers and cost, and that it probably wasn't a good match for us. However, I highly recommend this attentive, candid, knowledgeable, Bay Area based group! In particular, if you have over $1M for active investing (they service a broad range above that) and want someone else to manage it then this close-knit family firm with tax, accounting, and financial planning expertise is likely an outstanding match.
