I needed financial advice years ago, but I kept delaying. I was nervous about all the mistakes I had made—so many mistakes due to over-optimism and fear. The company I work for uses a well-known, large firm to manage its payroll and retirement plans. After a significant passing in my family, I noticed they had made a huge mistake. Then I found another, and another. When I found myself explaining terms to the person who was supposed to be helping me over the phone, I grew frustrated. In the last ten years, I had only received three form emails asking if I wanted financial advice. It was a joke.

When I arrived at IWA, I was welcomed by a warm receptionist who offered me water. I was nervous. After 23 years at the same company, I had never had an experience like this before. The meeting room was well-appointed, with a lovely round table and a large screen. As a visual person, having all my information displayed clearly was comforting. I met with Steve, who was so friendly and assured me he'd seen it all. For many reasons, I knew immediately that I was in good hands. Steve pointed out where I currently stood and showed me some strategies to correct the errors. All I can say is that I went from having no possibility of retirement to having a completely new structure that will work for me. My only question to myself is, why didn't I do this years ago?
