I studied long and hard before choosing Ninjatrader as a broker. I love their platform, but they're getting a single star because of they practiced deceptive sales tactics on me. I spoke with their salesperson for at least an hour. I let him know that I wanted to demo trade, and my free introductory period had already expired. He told me that if I funded my account to the tune of $400 that I could demo trade for "as long as I wanted to." Imagine my surprise then, when now in my second month I find a $25 fee on my account called an "inactivity fee." Turns out, that in addition to the market data fees I'm having to pay, I have to give a pound of flesh to Ninjatrader every month, and will continue to do so until they have chiseled me out of my deposit bit by bit. I don't have any problem with fees, but I do have a problem with their bait and switch, hidden fee, flat out bald faced lied to me sales-tactic. I still like the platform, but this is unacceptable. Ninjatraders salesperson was very explicit in our conversation, and I'm not sure I would have said no, had he been up front about this fee, but I would have at least gone into it with my eyes open and not feel like I had been treated like a mark. Bad practice... Zero stars.

I have been trading with Ninja for about 1.5 years now. They have always been very helpful and quick to reply to me about any issues. Commissions are very fair as well as negotiable if you trade heavy contract sizes. The charting is great and has a clean, simple to use interface, but does not lack in functionality. The algorithmic/backtesting platform is built on C# which is great as I find it one of the most simple and easiest languages to program with.
If I were to leave some criticisms it would be with the DOM. The DOM is quick, however it is very Basic. I feel like it will remain basic however, as by making the DOM advanced may be a conflict of interest with some of Ninjas partners such as Jigsaw.

Overall I have had no issues, and neither have some of my trading partners who trade much much bigger than me.

Today my friend tried to register, but they do not register citizens of Ukraine! Instead, they accept russian for registration, and it is very terrible! The russians are killing civilians in Ukraine right now, but Ninjatrader continues to cooperate with the Russians, instead they say that Ukraine is a high-risk country. This is terrible! Choose the right side!

NinjaTrader was up-front about total trading costs and getting me set up with a demo account. Will definitely be using NinjaTrader when I'm ready to trade live.

Impossible to contact anyone in Customer Service via phone and highly inflexible when trying to get help with all of the hidden fees they hit you with. Both as a trading platform and brokerage, NinjaTrader should be avoided.

I had a LOT of questions and these guys answered them all with ease. They were also kind enough to give me a free software and data demo so I could do some testing -- no reason not to give it a try!
