I had storm damage to my roof in June 2024. An adjuster didn't show up until February 2025, over 9 months later! My initial contact after reporting the damage was 8 weeks after the occurance.

We just transferred our insurance to Rural Mutual, after 50 years with another company. We were told by our agent that we would need to pay a $65 annual member fee. When we went online to pay for this fee it showed payment amount due as $70. We called Customer Service and were told that the member fee was $65 but they also add a $5.00 donation on the amount that is due. We were told we could edit this amount to $65, which we did. We feel that this is deceptive. If the company is looking at donations beyond the member fee it should be noted as such on the online payment site. This is definitely a red flag for us. We never had this kind of deception with State Farm. I would ask that Rural Mutual be more honest and upfront on the added $5.00 donation fee on their online payment site, and list it as such.

We have had Rural Mutual for the past 4 years. I am 63 years old and up until this year I have never had to make an insurance claim. This year we had an electrical storm that knocked out the control panel of our variable frequency drive irrigation pump. We made a claim and Rural Mutual handled the claim in a very expeditious and seamless manner. Extremely impressed and very happy with the was this was handled.

The thing about insurance for a business is you have to be able to trust one another. I started to lose my trust for Rural Mutual when they had four different agents take care of us over 2 terms. The one I had to call myself. He laughed at me when I told him I wasn't happy with me having to track him down personally. Their audit team is a mess. Auditing your customers every year like the projections I gave were made up to save us money or something. Never once did a claim and they non-renewed our policy at the last minute because I called them out on the poor service from the agents. I had to find a new insurance I could trust for our business, but I am glad I did.
