As first time buyers moving to WI from out of state, we were rather apprehensive about how to find listings and judge properties. From our first phone call with Scott, it was clear that not only was he highly knowledgeable about the Madison market, but that he strove to listen to our needs and make us feel comfortable in this new transactional landscape. That first call was not at all a sales pitch, but an open and honest conversation, which left us feeling much better about the process moving forward.

As we began looking at homes, Scott did a great job of finding us listings that fit our budget, location, and neighborhood qualities. He was very helpful about helping us strategize when to visit Madison, and what to expect as the market changed. When visiting houses, Scott was a never-ending source of knowledge, with a very methodical approach to discussing both details and the big picture of the pros and cons of each listing. He was quick to recognize and point out any signs of damage or poor construction, and was very knowledgeable about what to expect of houses of certain vintages in Madison.

When it came to making offers, Scott was a great impartial observer, letting us debate our own pros/cons, but was also extremely helpful in discussing offer strategy in the framework of our resources. He did all the paperwork, and was also helpful in terms of being present for our home inspection and other key steps along the way to closing.

All in all, Scott was amazingly kind, honest, and knowledgeable--a great resource to first time buyers. Whenever we enter the market again, Scott will be our go to guy!

Scott came high recommended to me from my daughter--her first home and probably our last. He more than lived up to my expectations. I hoped for someone who was honest, congenial, and knowledgable about the market. I wanted someone who would respond quickly to my numerous emails and with housing suggestions. With Scott I got all of that. But what truly surprised me was that with each house Scott checked the structural viability: Was there a crack in the foundation? Were the windows drafty? How good were the kitchen appliances? And so on. With the house we instantly loved (and purchased) he even pointed out some of the drawbacks which helped us make a more objective decision.

Scott found houses in the price range and with the features we were looking for and set up the showings. When we went to the showings, he was a fountain of knowledge and a keen eye. If something was wrong (signs of water, low quality build materials or practices, etc), he pointed it out and explained why the thing wasn't ideal and what types of risk or cost would be associated with it. When things were good, he also pointed that out and explained why. When we got to the point of making offers on houses, Scott walked us through all of the strategy, bringing up all relevant details and explaining why we might choose to do one thing or another. Scott also did all the paperwork, so all I had to do was sign.

For me, Scott was a lot more than just someone to do the legwork of finding houses, setting up showings, paperwork, communicating with sellers/sellers agents, etc. He was peace of mind. This was my first time buying a house and I had no idea what I was doing. Scott is very good at what he does, and having him around made me feel like I could make competent decisions. He listened to what I wanted (even as that evolved) and strove to make it a reality. He never pushed for anything, just offered information. I ended up with a house I love and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone needing a realtor.

I think I need a Scott for every other aspect of my life.
