Sara was a consummate professional that juggled the deal dynamics very well under intense pressure from all sides. Sarah is a business broker professional. She is personable, easy to work with, and communicates well. She was instrumental in selling my small business and getting my full asking price.

I owned a franchise that sold it at about 4X more than the previous highest price sale in the Franchisor’s history. I received a ā€œLetter of Intentā€ within a few weeks of listing my business for sale.

Yes, the commission seems high, but her value is walking you through the sales transaction to completion. Sara did this exceptionally well; the escrow agency and the banker she recommended were excellent. Each player in the transaction met frequently to resolve all outstanding tasks and barriers promptly. These frequent meetings were an unexpected benefit as all the participants met together frequently on Zoom calls. I felt very comfortable that the deal would get done. Sara actively project-managed the sales process. I had no regrets about paying the commission due to the amount of hand-holding and reassurance I received through the process.

Did everything go smoothly? No, but that’s expected with so many moving parts. I strongly suggest talking through the sales process at the start and identifying where the problem / sticky issues might be. We couldn’t anticipate everything because my Franchisor had their own internal sales process, of which we were unfamiliar. My suggestion is to question and double-check everything and determine the risk. One example is the seller included in the sales breakdown ā€œcovenant of non-completeā€ as an intangible asset and taxed as income rather than capital gains. Sara relayed from the buyer that the covenant was like a good-will asset, but I researched and discovered it is an intangible asset taxed as ordinary income. This error had significant tax implications.

I gave Sara five stars because she helped the buyer overcome complex issues with my landlord. The deal wouldn’t have closed without her intervention. The communication with Sara and the players she recommended made the sales transaction bearable, especially when dealing with my Franchisor and landlord.

I highly recommend Sara to assist you with the sale of your business.
