Both the teller and Amy were kind, patient and thorough. They were both busy and the teller handled everything very well until my new account I set up online wasn’t complete. That’s where Amy came to finish my onboarding. In the small amount of time, she showed her integrity in getting me pertinent information for me and my 3 young girls without seeming pushy or fake. She also has good family values that show up in her character as a banker. All around a good hearted human, in and outside those walls:) Keep it up Amy and IFCU.
P.S. If the people at the decision making table are still for overdraft fees, please, as a doer of good, for the most impacted by overdraft charges, consider for a moment, that most humans have very little knowledge of balancing their check book when they know they have just enough or maybe even short a little every month. Hoping that one check doesn’t get through before the paycheck hits. Now instead of skimming by, you’re starting short for the month. This is my challenge to you…instead of finding the ways to punish the unaware customers or “teach” them to be better with their money. For the few that learn in that way, it wouldn’t justify the bread butter or the very fitting phrase of easy money when you look at how the overdraft profits will well outweigh the losses to the HUMANS/customers/members.
I would think between your accountants, legal team, employees and perhaps some other banks systems with the experience in giving back, being the catalyst to change the moral and ethical landscape in banking. To build programs to teach, instead of the traditional methods of less compassionate banking, without even thinking of what one family goes through when they get the insufficient funds letter and have to try and stay level headed and positive with their children, all while hiding your feelings of failure to everyone around you, then carrying it all the way to payday:/ I understand it seems like an immediate loss and the accountability of the unfortunate needs addressing, however consider the possibilities of a creative overdraft program that satisfies us all! One that teaches and encourages the most vulnerable and is a forward thinking bank for the people who need it the most! Whoever takes this torch is going to change local banking and will renew some faith in your community and members! Question: How many more members would it take to offset the overdraft profits and perhaps balancing some of the top income earners salaries:) If we are measured by one of two things, the genuine good we do to help those less fortunate get ahead or the amount of material goods/monetary value we acquire? What’s more gratifying? I know the one that makes me feel human;)
