Rick Jarman built my home on Frank Lary Road and was an excellent contractor. Mr. Jarman was competent, workmanlike and addressed every concern my wife had. I have live in the house for 26 years and he has always been available to assist with renovations and updates as the market dictated. Following construction he personally returned to the house to address punch list items that occur with all homes. David B

In my experience, Mr Jarmin is prone to ignore the punch list on homes he has built, particularly if the customer is a single mom with too much on her plate to harass him enough to get the job done. He will just ignore you until the home warranty expires and you’ve lost the energy to make him do what you paid him $200,000 to do. Now that the home is for sale, the things he never took care of affect the sale value, and he doesn’t have the integrity to do his job and honor his obligations to his customer.

His response to calls inquiring about a termite bond, and other useful information is to yell at you through the phone, “Don’t you call me again about this house!!!!” He sure as heck isn’t going to fix the acrylic his subs tore up the day they installed the shower, or anything else listed on the inspection “to be repaired” before closing. He makes it clear once a check is cut he has no more interest in his customer or his workmanship (or lack thereof). He will just ignore you, or yell at you if you make the mistake of assuming he has enough integrity to do his job and call him.

I would never recommend anyone use him. I will certainly never make the mistake again myself. There are many builders with integrity who value their customers and the reputation of their product in Tuscaloosa. I would never include Rick Jarman in that list.

Of course, if you want someone to look you in the eye and lie to you at closing that he will fix all the problems with his house he is selling you, RJ is your man!!
